Abacus Fine Carpentry is a small, quality-oriented woodworking team
that specializes in various finish carpentry projects including installation of: window
and door trim, crown, chair, baseboard moldings, decorative-beam ceilings, interior doors,
wainscoting, and kitchen and bath cabinetry as well as construction of custom built-in
furniture, decks, porches, stairs, and fences. We have extensive experience working with
both general contractors and private homeowners in a wide variety of finishes and styles.

Jonas Bakkane is a finish carpenter and cabinetmaker.
Originally from Hamar, Norway, he complete a two-year carpentry and woodworking curriculum
at the Elvererum Carpentry School. The program emphasized practical application and
focused on basic and advanced cabinet and furniture construction. Among other things, the
program also included instruction in wood--types, qualities, manipulation--drafting and
design, and tool handling.
After completing his studies at Elvererum, Jonas carried out a two-year internship with
Aagaard Carpentry LLC, a well-known finish carpentry contractor in Norway. Aagaard
specializes in cabinet and tabletop construction and installation for pharmacy companies,
hotels, and small businesses. As an apprentice Jonas helped build and install the ticket
counter at Oslo's Gardermoen International Airport as well as the longest continuous
countertop in Norway (84 meters) at Oslo's train station.
As a skilled craftsman, Jonas brings to Abacus significant woodworking experience, an eye
for detail, and a Scandinavian aspect to our work.
Keith Cash is a finish carpenter and woodworker. A native to Western Washington,
Keith has worked on up-scale remodels in Seattle and in Kitsap and Whatcom counties. From
his experience, he has gained a broad knowledge of trim carpentry (interior moldings,
false-beam ceilings, wainscoting, etc), as well as construction and installation of custom
cabinetry. Keith holds a degree in International Business and Economics from Western
Washington University and is responsible for the accounting and general administration of
Abacus.
Keith brings to Abacus skills in management, business administration, and craftsmanship.
Abacus Fine Painting is the complement to Abacus' carpentry arm.
Specializing in a myriad of simple or decorative faux finishes, in addition to more
artistic projects such as elegant wall murals or children’s playroom illustrations,
Abacus Fine Painting has the talent to meet most any client’s artistic needs. Trained

Monica Berg is a graphic artist/designer and
interior painter. Monica grew up in Norway (Kristiansund), and attended the Romerike
Theatrical School where she learned and eventually specialized in big-production scene and
background design. Outside of theater, Monica worked for local schools painting children's
classrooms. Monica now works as an interior painter specializing in faux finishes
and murals.
Monica brings to
Abacus a solid knowledge of paints and painting techniques, artistic talent, and a good
eye for color coordination and interior design.
